Intramurals Experience

Hello, everyone! Today, I'd like to share my intramurals experience with you. I've always wanted to join and be a badminton player since Grade 10, but I missed the tryouts because I got sick. So, I decided to try out in Grade 11. When the list of intramurals participants was posted, my friends and I discussed what we would do if we didn't get picked for badminton. We decided to sign up for three sports just in case. Little did we know, the tryouts for all three sports were scheduled at the same time. During the badminton tryouts, only two of us made it into Batch 1. One of my friends switched to volleyball, and luckily, there was a Batch 2, so another friend got in.

After some tough competition, we secured our spots in both Batch 1 and Batch 2. My friend and I played doubles, and another friend played singles. We played at school and trained at Raquetaz once a week. The day of the parade came, and I was overjoyed to be part of the intramurals. Three days later, the games started in Dasmarinas Bayan, beginning with Raquetaz Badminton at 7:00 am. We started warming up, feeling nervous and surprised because the schedule wasn't followed properly. Our first match was against Hums 12, a strong and experienced opponent. We were nervous, and unfortunately, we lost with a score of 31/24. After a short break, we faced Stem 11 feeling more confident because we had seen their training. However, they were stronger and won with a score of 31/26. We rested and discussed our strategy for the next match against Hums 11. The match against Hums 11 was intense from the beginning. We took an early lead, but they caught up, leading to a thrilling finale with a score of 31/30. Although we didn't win, we learned a lot and became more motivated to train harder for Grade 12. Participating in the intramurals was challenging but rewarding. It taught us about sportsmanship, perseverance, and teamwork. I'm looking forward to the next intramurals and the opportunities it will bring. Thank you for joining me on this journey and sharing in my experiences!

    1. Participating in events like intramurals can still be enjoyable and fulfilling even if you don't achieve victory in every match. The experience of competing, pushing yourself, and learning from both successes and setbacks is what ultimately contributes to personal growth and improvement.
